Nacional Museum Thyssen Bornemisza

The Nacional Museum Thyssen Bornemisza hosts an exhibition that connects the work of fashion designer Cristóbal Balenciaga to the tradition of Spanish painting of the 16th to the 20th centuries.
The exhibition, curated by Eloy Martínez de la Pera, displays a total of 90 items of dress from the Cristóbal Balenciaga Museo in Getaria, the Museo del Traje de Madrid and the Museu del Disseny de Barcelona as well as from numerous private collections in Spain and elsewhere. Regarding the paintings, an exceptional grupo has been brought together, composing 55 works by El Greco, Velázquez, Murillo, Carreño de Miranda, Zurbarán, Goya, Madrazo and Zuloaga, among others.
The audio guide, available in Spanish, English, Italian and French, includes comments from the curator Eloy Martínez de la Pera, as well as Sonsoles Díez de Rivera, museo of Balenciaga and owner of some of the dresses displayed on the exhibition.
