The commemoration of the centenary of the death of Joaquín Sorolla Bastida (1863-1923) now focuses on travel and on outdoor painting, the driving force behind all his travels. Sorolla toured a total of fifty-four Spanish and seventeen foreign cities, standing apart his two tours of the United States. In this way, the painter forged an independent and cosmopolitan lifestyle through the progress he always championed. The protagonists of the exhibition are the territory, nature, the sea, the mountains, the atmospheric effects, Spanish nature and monuments, where Sorolla composes with an intimate look his other vision of that Spain that he so unusually traveled and represented.
